Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in San Antonio?
Kylie: I was born and raised in Kerrville, Texas, which is about an hour from San Antonio. I have lived in Kerrville my entire life, but have always considered San Antonio my home with most of our time being spent there. Our goal as a family is to move there to be closer to work and the San Antonio community.
Child(ren) and Age(s)?
I have three littles, Vincent will be 5 in September, Daniel turned 2 in January, and our baby girl, Kailyn, is due mid-October.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I never really planned on having children, at least not while I was still figuring out life. I became a first time mom at just 20 years old. Luckily, my husband has been the hardest working individual I know and really helped me grow and understand what I want out of life. My past was pretty rocky to say the least, between my parents’ ugly divorce in my teenage years and all of the anger I manifested due to that. I pushed a lot of people away, and now I feel like I do just the opposite. My goal is to create a community of mamas from all backgrounds who can support and uplift one another. I’ve really changed my attitude around and view everything with a positive mindset, or at least try to find one positive in a tough situation. I’m really proud of where I am compared to where I was just five short years ago.
Favorite local things to do in San Antonio?
I absolutely love exploring San Antonio! There is so much to do, both for adults and for kids. One of my favorite things to do is take the kids window-shopping at La Cantera and talk to new people. I am also a HUGE Spurs fan, so my goal is to take the kids to a game soon! I always have the best time cheering for my team!
Funniest shortcut/routine for helping you through parenthood?
I feel like I have a ton of shortcuts for parenting! My go-to routine always involves essential oils in some form or fashion. I am a natural-minded mama when possible, so having natural methods to help create a routine for bath time and bed time really helps make life a lot easier as a parent. I didn’t start using natural methods regularly until my oldest was around a year old, so I’ve had a chance to “compare” my parenting methods with my first two children and I can really tell a difference in our routine.
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
Before becoming the community manager for the San Antonio Moms Network, I ran a health and wellness blog based on my time as a personal trainer and gym owner in Kerrville. As the SAMN community manger, I’ve been able to establish a platform that helps moms in the community, whether they need resources to choose from, ideas for things to do with kiddos, and even building a tight-knit community of mamas in the area. Along with this, I run a successful Young Living business that I’ve also developed a strong tribe of mamas with. Having like-minded mamas to ask questions and talk parenting with has been such a saving grace!
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now? (For example, the San Antonio parenting community).
I’ve been so thankful for the San Antonio community! I met some of my best friends at UTSA, so having them around to have double dates with, continue playing pick up basketball games with, and last-minute sitters for any emergencies or appointments has been a life saver. I love meeting moms I’ve met through local social media groups for walks around the San Antonio area parks, or having friends meet up at the local children’s museums and restaurants. Having strong women around me locally has allowed me to grow my mentality and parenting skills exponentially. I’m so grateful to have San Antonio as my city!
